Alpha Course 2023

We are excited to announce our new Alpha Course at St John's - Tuesdays 3rd October to 28th November 6.30pm

Why not take a couple of hours out of your weekly life... to explore the meaning of life?

  • Is there more to life than this?

  • Who is Jesus?

  • Why did Jesus die?

  • How can we have faith?

  • Why and how do I pray?

  • Why and how should I read the Bible?

  • How does God guide us?

  • Why and how should we tell others?

  • What about the Church?

The ALPHA DAY (HOLY SPIRIT DAY) on Saturday, 27th January 2024  at St John’s Methodist Church -  9:30 for 10 am to 1 pm

The Alpha Day is a part of the Alpha Course. The Day consists of welcome coffee/tea/drinks and Alpha Film talks on the Holy Spirit, small group discussion, worship and prayer ministry followed by a lunch to conclude the Alpha course.  Revd David Jebb and the Mission Outreach team are facilitating the day.

  • Do I have to come?  This day is a way for you to listen to three talks on the Holy Spirit who is the Consoler Jesus promised to send to us. If you attend, many of your questions about the Holy Spirit will be answered.

  • How important is the Alpha Day?  The Alpha Day is important enough that the majority who have taken Alpha  continue to talk about it long after the course is over. Many have indicated its impact upon their lives.  Those who indicate they had a less than fruitful experience on Alpha did not attend the Alpha Day.

  • Will we be in our small groups?  Yes.

  • Will food be provided?  Absolutely! We kick off the morning with welcome refreshments and finish with a  lunch at 1 pm.

  • Can we bring anything?  Please feel free to bring desserts/fruit trays if you wish.

  • I have more questions, who can I ask?  Please get in touch with your Alpha group facilitators and helpers or David Jebb with further questions.  Please call him on 07786907634  or email

  • No fee for the Alpha course or hospitality, but a donation will be taken for the arrangements for future Alpha courses.

  • Is registration required?  Yes, please, so we can prepare for food accommodation accordingly.  email:

We've been very blessed to see the changes occurring in people's lives.  Alpha is a gentle, respectful, enjoyable way of introducing people to the Christian faith and developing the faith of believers.

Autumn Alpha begins on Tuesday 3rd October in the Clifton Room at St John’s Church Potters Bar. Evening sessions are 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Each session includes:

  • a simple meal

  • a short film

  • small group discussion

There is absolutely no follow-up, charge or pressure. Everyone is welcome!
